The Boring Company
Elon Musk also has a lot of stake in The Boring Company, a less popular business initiative. The Boring Company aims to build safe, rapid-to-dig, and inexpensive transportation systems for passengers, goods, and waste. To alleviate traffic congestion and enable fast point-to-point travel throughout cities. One of their most notable projects is the LVCC Loop system. A three-station transportation system consisting of 1.7 miles of tunnels was built in the last year. The LVCC Loop consists of two tunnels and three stations; two surface stations and one subsurface station. The LVCC Loop connects the New Exhibit Hall in Las Vegas to the existing campus, cutting a 45-minute cross-campus trek down to just 2 minutes. As far as 2022 goes, the company has plans to extend the LVCC loop, which they will call “The Vegas Loop,” with future service extensions including those to casinos along the Strip, Harry Reid International Airport, Allegiant Stadium, downtown Las Vegas, and eventually to Los Angeles. The Vegas Loop will provide fast and convenient transportation to the Las Vegas community, visitors, and beyond. On October 20, 2021, Clark County Commissioners gave the Vegas Loop a unanimous green light. A 29-mile network of tunnels connecting 51 stations throughout the resort corridor and beyond.
Nueralink
Another exciting venture Elon is working on is his tech company Nueralink. The company is a neurotechnology firm that develops intracranial brain machines. In 2022 Neuralink is working on a chip implanted in people’s brains to monitor and stimulate brain activity simultaneously. It’s designed to have medical uses, such as treating significant spinal-cord injuries and neurological diseases. Elon Musk has stated that Neuralink intends to implant the first of its microchips in humans in 2022. The Neuralink chips have been successfully implanted in monkeys to record and stimulate brain activity, allowing them to complete tasks simply through the strength of their thoughts, as seen in the stunning Monkey MindPong video released in 2021. The firm’s next objective is to commercialize the technology so that completely and partially paralyzed individuals may more easily control digital gadgets without using their hands!
