Once you are a geek then you need some nerdy things to do. This is how you build up your geek street cred. However, not every hobby can be bought online, and besides no one has that kind of loot and time. Here is a list of some pretty cool things for the geek in you to have as a hobby. You will be amazed that there are thing here that you never even thought of but might be pretty good at.
Obvious number 1 is (drum roll) playing video games, now that was a no brainer, you aren’t considered a geek if you don’t play video games, right?
Next on the list is collecting and reading comic books, this is actually not that geeky anymore, especially since the Avengers movies, everyone wants to be a superhero now.
Board games such as Chess, Go, Shogi and Checkers are next on this list. Even in this digital age, these games are making a come back and are still a lot of fun to play.
Following closely after the board games are fiction books, electronics and robotics and then technology.
Next on the list is Pen and Paper Role-Playing games like D&D and Shadowrun for example. Not so geek worthy is watching movies, but as earlier highlighted, with the onset of movies like Avengers and Captain America, this is not so bad a hobby.
Playing with miniatures and model building are also very geek worthy hobbies to have. However, if you really want to ramp up your geek street cred, then Programming should definitely be on your list of hobbies along with Live Action Role-Playing games, for instance, have you ever considered historical reenacting as a weekend hobby?
To close off this list, there remains Playing a Musical Instrument, Learning New Languages, Astronomy and War Hammer 40k, Sci Fi and Fantasy Tabletop Gaming.
